Encore Films, in collaboration with Warner Bros., which has released award-winning and popular anime films like the Oscar-winning The Boy and the Heron, the 2024 highest-rated animated film Look Back, and 2025’s top-grossing anime across the globe Ne Zha 2, has announced on its social media platforms that they will be releasing Nintama Rantaro: Invincible Master of the Dokutake Ninja in India shortly.

Nintama Rantaro: Dokutake Ninja-tai Saikyō no Gunshi, or Gekijō-ban Nintama Rantaro Dokutake Ninja-tai Saikyō no Gunshi released in Japanese theatres on December 20, 2024. The movie, inspired by Kazuhisa Sakaguchi’s novel of 2013, explains the history of Hansuke Doi, teacher of Rantaro, defeated by Sonnamon and Zatto Konnamon becoming a teacher at the Ninjutsu Academy. Rantaro and his friends must navigate this madness during a transformation as well as fight against the Dokutake Ninja clan. The movie grossed approximately ¥1.2 billion (approximately $8 million USD) in Japan, showing how well-received it was by audiences, assisted by the theme song “Arigatō Kokoro Kara” performed by the Japanese boy band Naniwa Danshi.

Ninjaboy Rantaro TV anime, which began in 1993, is currently airing on Sony YAY!, a children’s channel of Culver Max Entertainment (formerly Sony Pictures Networks India) in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and Malayalam. The series is also airing on Sony pay-only value-added channels, Anime Booth on Airtel DTH and Anime Local on Tata Play, providing exclusive content of anime to members.
