The film will hit select theatres starting May 24, 2024 in Japanese language with English Subtitles
PLOT SUMMARY:
“Blue Giant” follows the transformative journey of Dai Miyamoto, a former high school basketball player whose life changes the day he discovers jazz. Armed with a saxophone, Dai practices tirelessly, aspiring to become one of the greatest jazz musicians. Leaving his quiet hometown for the vibrant nightclubs of Tokyo, Dai soon realizes that the path of a professional musician is fraught with challenges. His unwavering passion draws the attention of the skilled yet arrogant pianist Yukinori. Together with Dai’s friend Shunji, who takes up the drums, they form a jazz trio. Their unpolished yet energetic sound quickly captivates local audiences, but the quest for true greatness is just beginning.
Directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa, known for “Mob Psycho 100,” and based on the award-winning manga, “Blue Giant” is a heartfelt tribute to the power of music and the artist’s journey. The film promises electrifying performances and a captivating jazz soundtrack that underscores the emotional narrative.
