
Anime Blockbuster Sets Historic Milestone with Record-Breaking Advance Sales and First-Ever Midnight & Early Morning IMAX Screenings in India

The highly anticipated anime film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle, scheduled to release on September 12, 2025, is already rewriting box office history in India. The film has recorded a staggering 1,35,000 tickets sold across the top national chains – PVRInox and Cinepolis – as of Wednesday, 1 PM, with still two full days of advance booking left before release.
Breaking down the numbers, PVRInox has sold 90,000 tickets, while Cinepolis has contributed 45,000 tickets, bringing the combined tally to 1,35,000 tickets sold. This extraordinary milestone positions Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle to achieve the highest advance booking of 2025 in India, a landmark achievement for an international anime release.In response to the overwhelming demand, theater chains have introduced midnight shows (Mumbai & Pune) and early morning screenings (select Cities ) in premium formats such as IMAX and 4DX—a first for an anime release in India.
Distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is the first anime film in India to be released in five languages: Japanese (with English subtitles), English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. This caters to a diverse audience and has fueled its record-breaking performance across more than 750 screens—the widest release ever for an anime film in India.
The film is being showcased in premium formats, including IMAX 2D, 4DX, and Dolby Atmos, with midnight shows added in major cities like Mumbai & Pune for IMAX and 4DX screenings to accommodate the overwhelming demand. Limited Screening Dates and High Demand Advance bookings are live on platforms like BookMyShow, PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis, but Tickets, especially for premium formats like IMAX 2D and 4DX, are selling out rapidly, with evening and newly added midnight shows already houseful in metro cities.
Additionally, In a historic first for Japanese cinema in India,early-morning screenings starting as early as 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM in IMAX and 4DX formats—exclusively for the Japanese-language version—are being held in Kochi, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru mark the earliest showtimes ever for a Japanese film in India.
About Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle :-
It is the first of a three-part cinematic trilogy adapting the final arc of Koyoharu Gotoge’s best-selling manga. The story follows Tanjiro Kamado and the Demon Slayer Corps as they navigate the treacherous Infinity Castle after a surprise attack by demon king Muzan Kibutsuji. the film is certified U/A 13+ by the CBFC with no visual cuts.
