Medialink Group Limited has officially announced that Colorful Stage! The Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing will premiere in Indian theatres on August 29, 2025, screening in Japanese audio with English subtitles. The highly anticipated film brings Hatsune Miku, the world’s most iconic virtual singer, to the big screen in her first-ever feature-length anime adaptation.

Produced by renowned animation studio P.A. Works, the film is inspired by the rhythm game HATSUNE MIKU: COLORFUL STAGE! (also known as Project Sekai: Colorful Stage! feat. Hatsune Miku). The story follows Ichika, a high school musician who can enter a mysterious realm called “SEKAI,” where music becomes a vessel for expressing true emotions. Alongside Hatsune Miku and other friends, Ichika explores the transformative power of music.

The film introduces a new, never-before-seen version of Miku who struggles with something unthinkable — she cannot sing. Despite her efforts, this Miku cannot reach the hearts of her listeners. With Ichika and her companions by her side, the film explores Miku’s journey to rediscover her voice and connect with the world through music.

Colorful Stage! The Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing first debuted in Japan on January 17, 2025, distributed by Shochiku. GKIDS later brought the film to North America, premiering in U.S. theatres on April 17, 2025, after a brief delay, and in Canadian theatres on May 11, 2025.

In Asia, Medialink has been overseeing the film’s regional rollout, which began in Taiwan on March 28, followed by releases in Hong Kong and Macau (April 3), Thailand (April 10), Malaysia and Singapore (April 17), the Philippines (April 19), Indonesia (May 9), and Vietnam (June 13). Now, Indian audiences will soon get the chance to experience the emotional and visually stunning story on the big screen.
