Indian anime fans are in for a nostalgic and action-packed treat — multiple Naruto movies are officially heading to theatres across India, and for the first time, they will be available in Japanese, English, and Hindi. Reliance Entertainment, in partnership with TV Tokyo and Happening 365 Synergies, has announced that it will bring the Naruto films to Indian theatres, starting with the first installment of the film in June. The announcement was first reported by Variety, signaling a major step forward for anime localization in the country.

This isn’t the first time Naruto has made an appearance in India. The anime series and movies were first introduced to Indian audiences back in 2009 on Cartoon Network India, where they aired in Hindi, English, Tamil, and Telugu when the network held the rights. Later, the series found a new home on Animax India, which aired Naruto and several of its movies with English subtitles multiple times between 2016 and 2019, earning a strong following among dedicated anime fans.

“The movies will be released in three languages – English, Hindi, and Japanese – ensuring accessibility for a wide range of audiences. This theatrical release will not only cater to Naruto enthusiasts but also introduce the franchise to a new generation of anime fans.”

— Hiroaki Saiki, Head of Global Distribution, TV Tokyo

The release is being brought to India through a collaboration between TV Tokyo, Reliance Entertainment, and Happening 365 Synergies.

Naruto has been a cultural phenomenon across the world and India has witnessed a remarkable surge in its anime fan base over the years. We are thrilled to bring this iconic franchise to Indian cinemas, giving fans the opportunity to experience it on the big screen.”

— Dhruv Sinha, Head of International Businesses and Syndication, Reliance Entertainment

“This partnership marks an exciting milestone in the growth of one of the most iconic anime franchises. Our goal is to elevate the Naruto experience and continue to build its legacy as a global anime sensation, while ensuring fans in India enjoy the movies in their preferred language.”

— Anuron Mukherjee & Kalpita Jadhav, Happening 365 Synergies

While the full list of movies and release dates is yet to be officially announced, fans can expect to see some of the most beloved Naruto titles return to the big screen. This move comes at a time when anime is rapidly gaining popularity in India, with growing demand for dubbed and subtitled content in cinemas.
