Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2025 Set to Return to Tokyo on May 25
New Eligibility Period, 32 Categories, and First Celebrity Presenter Pabllo Vittar Announced
Crunchyroll Anime Awards will take place on May 25, 2025,
at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa in Tokyo, Japan. The event will feature a star-studded orange carpet
and a global live stream to celebrate the year’s most outstanding contributions to Japanese animation.
The awards ceremony, which honors creators, musicians, and performers in the anime industry, will see the
return of co-hosts Sally Amaki and Jon Kabira, along with opening remarks
by Kenichiro Yoshida, Chairman and CEO of Sony Group Corporation.
In a major highlight, Brazilian drag pop icon and anime enthusiast Pabllo Vittar has been announced
as the first celebrity presenter. Additional celebrity guests from television, film, sports, music, and fashion,
along with live performances, will be revealed closer to the event.
Updated Eligibility Period and Expanded Categories
Crunchyroll has announced a revamped eligibility period to align future awards with a calendar year. For 2025, the eligibility
window will cover anime released between October 1, 2023, and December 31, 2024,
encompassing five seasons of anime.
“This expanded eligibility ensures no anime goes uncelebrated and gives fans more opportunities to vote for their favorites,”
said Gita Rebbapragada, Chief Operating Officer of Crunchyroll.
The awards will feature 32 categories, reflecting anime’s impact on global pop culture. New categories such as
Best Isekai and Best Hindi Voice Artist join returning fan favorites like
Best Main Character and Best Opening Sequence. Nominees will be announced on
April 3, 2025, coinciding with the opening of global fan voting.

The Crunchyroll Anime Awards continue to grow in influence, celebrating the creators and series driving anime’s global popularity.
“Every year, we see an outpouring of love and admiration from fans worldwide, voting for and cheering on their favorite shows
and creators,” added Rebbapragada. “This year will be no different as anime captivates larger and more diverse
audiences than ever before.”
The event is organized with support from Sony Music Solutions Inc. and Dempsey Productions.
